Spring Fest Hash Weekend – 13 to 15 May 2011

Here is the plan for the springfest hash weekend:

Registration

Registration will take place from 5pm to 7pm at Club St. Petersburg at Schlossstr. 35.  This will include beer, snacks, and your goody bag. Please eat the snacks because there will not be any food on the pub crawl (or time to stop for food). There will be a hash car near the registration where you can leave your bags. The most valuable item in your goody bag is your wrist band for the Fest Tent. Safeguard it!!

Pub Crawl

The pub crawl will depart at 7pm for the first of many bars. We’ll provide the beer at each bar. If you want something else, please bring some euro’s. Everyone should bring some cash, just in case (you need a taxi, etc.). After the pubs, we’ll do a circle (with hash beer) and then go to the on-after bar for more alcohol, dancing, and
camaraderie. Maybe a little debauchery. By the way, the pub crawl is open to anyone who wants to come, whether doing the whole weekend or not. The cost is euro 20.

Saturday Morning Hash

The Saturday morning trail will start at the Mettingen S-Bahn, which is just 5 stops from the Stuttgart Main Train Station and 4 stops from from where the fest is (Bad Cannstatt) on the S1 line.  There will be a walkers and runners trail.  The runners trail starts at 1130 and the walkers trail at 1215. Hashers of all capabilities will be entertained. A car to store bags will also be provided. Plan to go from this hash to the main fest event. The Saturday Hash is also open to anyone who wants to come, whether doing the whole weekend or not. The cost is euro 15.

We’ll go in a large group by S-bahn to the Grandl’s Hofbrau Fest Tent. We should be there by 1530. Our tables are 224, 225, 226, 227, 228. It’s a very good location near the bar and bathrooms. You will not be able to get in without a wrist band so make sure you have it. If you have it, wear your Dirndl’s and Lederhosen. If you don’t have it, buy it!

Sunday Hangover Hash

Breaking with tradition, the SWH3 Fest Hash hangover trail will be in Esslingen an Neckar.

Start location: Bahnhofplatz 1, 73728 Esslingen am Neckar (48.739246,9.301228)
Directly across from the Esslingen Sbahn stop on the S1 line six stops from Hauptbahnhof for 3.40 euro.
Public transport is highly recommended!
The S1 runs every 30min and the regional R1 & R8 run every hour.
Bus lines are: 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 108, 109, 112, 114, 118, 119, 120, 122, & 131
For those with luggage, there are 40+ lockers of large and medium size at the Esslingen bahnhof or you can use a locker at the Hauptbahnhof on your way to trail.

The r*nning hare will be away promptly at 1215.

The trail will be short, flat, fast, and dry. Marks will always be on the right….except when they are on the left. And they will always be on ground….except when they are on trees, benches, walls, sleeping bums, and small dogs.

The walkers’ trail, hared by the devastatingly gorgeous ShutUp, will follow most of the r*nners’ trail with the exception of a small bit of fun in the vineyards.

This is also the same day as the Esslingen-Mettingen Weinwandertag (Wine Walk) which starts at the Frauenkirche at 1100. Ironically, the Frauenkirche will also play a big part in the Hangover Hash. The possibilities for confusion are endless, so there’s almost no chance the hare will be snared.

There will be no formal on-afters as most of the visitors will be heading home shortly after Circle. However, for those hanging around town, many of us will partake in the Weinwandertag and take the trail to Mettingen, sampling the local fermented fruit of the vines growing on the hillside.

The Sunday Hash is also open to anyone who wants to come, whether doing the whole weekend or not. The cost is euro 10.
